Audiences have become very selective in terms of which movie they think is worth watching in theatres and which isn’t. Tom Holland and Tom Cruise both seem to be taking some part of the credit for bringing their fans into theatres when it seemed like the big screens were looking more and more barren. It can easily be put into consideration that Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick had a big role to play in bringing people back to the cinema halls. However, there were some movies before it that managed to give a push.
Both the actors leaned towards getting credit for what gave audiences the motivation to watch movies in cinemas after the pandemic had limited everyone to their homes. Was it Uncharted or Mission: Impossible 7? The debate was long and ongoing.
Tom Holland Thinks His Movie Saved Hollywood
When the thought comes into fans’ minds about who can be credited for saving Hollywood, Tom Holland’s name is not one that immediately pops up. Instead, it is Tom Cruise who gets credited a lot for how dedicated he is to having his films only released on the big screens.
“I know Tom Cruise loves to say that he brought the film industry back, but he forgot about this little film called Uncharted that was shooting four months before he was. So, I’m just very proud of what we’ve done.”
Holland does not quite agree with this claim because even if Mission: Impossible 7 was filmed after various waves of the pandemic, Uncharted was filmed four months before it. He wants his rightful credit as well. Although the movie did not do as well, it was still a hit and managed to make over $400 Million worldwide. Despite all of that, people are still more picky when it comes to which movie they go to watch in the theatres. Whether it is to save money or purely out concern of for their safety, some films manage to attract fans more than others.
Tom Cruise Kept In Mind The Thousands Of Jobs Involved In Filmmaking
The pandemic not only delayed a lot of movies that were being made, but it also put a stop to quite a lot of them that were on the verge of being released. The impact it had on the film industry was one that no one had expected. Tom Cruise took into consideration all the people who were involved in the process of making the movie and those who were depending on their jobs in such troubling times.
“I’ve produced 30 to 40 movies. I am responsible for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of jobs. All my friends in the industry, people that are in distribution, and my crew were like, ‘What are we going to do? I could lose my house!’ So I told the studio and I told the industry, ‘We’re going back. We’re going to get everyone back to work. We’re going to start shooting in the summer. And we’re going to figure out how to do it safely.’”
He took all the measures involved in making sure no one was compromising their safety and instead was extremely strict. It became rather famous as to how dedicated he was to film the movie in the most cautious way possible.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 will be available to watch in theatres from 12th July 2023.
