“I kill him and then I can bring the dog back”: Keanu Reeves Ended John Wick vs The Matrix Debate With a Befitting Response

Keanu Reeves has quite a talent for making hearts flutter with his most affable personality, formidable action sequences, and fantastic acting. From getting his breakthrough with Bill & Ted franchise, he gained major stardom by portraying the role of Neo in The Matrix franchise. He continued to impress the audience in the action genre with the John Wick series.

However, given the strong portrayals he did in both the action franchise, what would happen if the two characters would get on par with each other?

Back in 2020, the Canadian actor, Keanu Reeves made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he was asked who would win if his character John Wick and Neo from The Matrix end up fighting each other.

As the question looks quite intriguing to us, the actor insisted,

“Aw man, well, number one, they wouldn’t fight.”

The host then created a scenario to spar the two talented characters stating that Neo accidentally ends up killing the legendary hitman’s dog. He mentioned,

“I’m driving and the dog runs out in the street and I kill him… and then I can bring the dog back and John Wick’s like, ‘What’s going on?'” 

In his response, he further insisted,

“No! No. They wouldn’t fight. But maybe John Wick would try to help Thomas Anderson out in the real world, maybe against the machines.”

It’s quite clear that both the protagonists would avoid unnecessary fights with each other which is why he continued to remain adamant that they would not fight.

The ex-assassin fought bravely in the new John Wick: Chapter 4 with the movie concluding by showing his grave. It, thus, indicated that the protagonist is six feet under but many are hoping for the actor to return to the franchise since his death is not clearly shown in the film which absolutely could make a whole difference. The actor feels that the ending felt right and also mentioned his return to the film. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly,

 “I mean, I wouldn’t do a ‘John Wick’ film without [director] Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.”

On the other hand, Reeves reprised his role in the fourth part of the sci-fi action series titled, The Matrix Resurrections. The film was unable to perform well at the box office with many panning its writing and weak action choreography. Given that there are no plans as of now regarding the fifth sequel, the Constantine actor has hinted in several interviews that he is willing to reprise his Neo role provided the story is good enough to make sense.
