“I keep waiting for them to save it”: Mark Ruffalo Claims His Hulk Can Only Save Chris Hemsworth’s Failing Marvel Career After $761M Thor 4 Failure

Thor: Love and Thunder was released in the summer of 2022. The movie was running on the big screens till it had been released on OTT platforms. However, the film was immensely disappointing because it was reproved heavily by the critics and it angered the fans because it failed to meet its hype.

Mark Ruffalo Believes Only Hulk can save the Thor Franchise

During the Comic-Con 2023, held at Emerald City, Mark Ruffalo playfully criticized how poorly Thor: Love and Thunder did in the theatres and upon asking by an MCU fan with whom the actor would like to work in a movie, and he remorsefully answered with Hemsworth again in his MCU franchise “to save it.”

“I have a soft spot for Chris Hemsworth. So, I keep waiting for them to invite me back to the Thor franchise to save it… That’s a joke… I’m canceled…”

Another burning question from the Comic-Con held at Emerald City was which MCU actor or actress would Ruffalo choose to fight against a supervillain in real life? The Spotlight actor chose Scarlett Johansson because “you don’t wanna mess with her,” and “she’ll take anyone on and win.”  However, the actor believes Groot is pretty much useless.

“Are you trying to get me kicked out of the club? Oh, man. Well, my first choice would probably be Scarlett Johansson, because you don’t wanna mess with her. I mean, she’ll take anyone on and win. Even Marvel. She’s intense. And, Groot? (laughs) I just can’t see a lot of uses for Groot.”

Jokes aside, it would be fantastic to bring Hulk to the Thor franchise because fans love the powerhouse duo who have a long history in Marvel and how the two characters have been part of numerous epic battles is just a spectacle to watch.

Can Fans Expect a Standalone Film for Hulk?

Even though Mark Ruffalo jokingly criticized the poor performance of Thor: Love and Thunder, there is no denying that this was Chris Hemsworth’s fourth solo film as Thor where as Ruffalo has yet to have a solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Moreover, in a previous interview with The Direct, Mark Ruffalo talked about his future in the MCU but he did not go too far about his plan as there are uncertainties in life.

“I mean, I’ll probably do it as long as they’ll have me, if people are interested, and I can bring something that’s interesting to me to it, and interesting to the fans. But I have no idea. I mean, you know, when you look at the comics, there’s some pretty grizzled, old versions of him. I’m like, OK, the 67-year-old Hulk, that would be interesting — if all of us are still here making movies and there’s a world that allows for us to do that anymore.”

“With what we’re living in and heading towards, the future feels more precarious than any other time. So I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. But I hope I’m still around to do it.”
