The Apple TV show Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudeikis alongside Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and many others has become one of the most loved shows on the platform. Following football coach Ted Lasso, the series released its third season earlier this year, which was concluded last week. The last episode of the third season titled So Long, Farewell, is not only expected to be the season finale but is also expected to be the show’s finale, with no certainties about the show’s future after season 3.
However, the English actress, who plays Rebecca Welton in the series, does not seem ready to say goodbye to the show. She shared that she hopes for the show to continue and wants to continue playing the owner of AFC Richmond.
Hannah Waddingham on Ted Lasso Ending With Season 3
With the release of the season finale for the third season of Ted Lasso, fans have been discussing if they would have their favorite characters back in a new season or not. While the creator and the star of the series Jason Sudeikis has said that season 3 was the end of the story he and his co-creators wanted to tell.
Although he shared that he is grateful for the fans’ response and their curiosity about the show’s future, he seemed to hint that they don’t have another season planned for Ted Lasso. However, Hannah Waddingham has other ideas to continue the series.
During her recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 49-year-old actress shared that just like fans, she also wants the show to continue. She claimed that the creators can’t “step away” from the show and the characters that are so beloved by the fans.
She also mentioned, “I mean, I feel like trapping [Jason Sudeikis] in a dungeon with a notepad and a pen and just going: ‘Dude, what are you doing?'” Waddingham also shared that she loves playing her character in the show and does not want to give up playing her on-screen anytime soon.

Hannah Waddingham Loves Playing Rebecca Welton
Hannah Waddingham has been connected with Ted Lasso since the first season of the show as Rebecca Welton. She portrays the new owner of AFC Richmond in the series, who hires Ted Lasso as coach to make the team lose as she seeks revenge on her ex-husband.
During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she shared that she hopes to continue playing her character in future seasons. “I would play her when her teeth are falling out, in a retirement home, like sitting outside it with mud splashing her,” she shared. The actress shared that she loves her character and “just [wants] to see her through.”
With Ted Lasso allegedly coming to an end with the third season, there have been discussions about spin-offs following the prominent characters in the series. And one of these characters also includes Waddingham’s character. So, there could be a possibility for her to return as Rebecca Welton in her or other characters’ potential spinoffs.
