The handsome and endearing Hollywood star, Ryan Gosling has been able to completely enthrall us with his outstanding performances in La La Land, Crazy Stupid Love, and many other movies. The actor, however, has recently made headlines for a different reason: his relationship with actress, model, and fashion designer wife, Eva Mendes.
The 42-year-old actor explained in a recent interview how meeting the Ghost Rider actress gave him the desire to start a family and become the father of her children. This is enough to spark a discussion about the significance of relationships and their influence on each other’s choices in life.
The adored couple got to know one another while playing each other’s love interests in the 2012 movie, The Place Beyond the Pines.
The two had such magnetic on-screen chemistry that their relationship actually blossomed in real life. Since then, they have been a couple, and they are now proud parents to Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee.
Ryan Gosling ‘Didn’t Want To Have Kids’ Without Eva Mendes
Men often have a sudden change of heart when they meet the one person they want to spend the rest of their lives with. This holds true in Ryan Gosling’s case, as he recently admitted that he never wanted to be a dad before meeting his wife.
The Barbie actor was on the cover of GQ, where he admitted that meeting Eva Mendes had a significant impact on his life.
“When you asked me about Eva and kids, I think I said, ‘I didn’t think about kids until she told me she was pregnant.'”
“That’s not really true,” he remarked, citing an earlier conversation with the interviewer:
“I didn’t want to overshare, but now I also don’t want to misrepresent. I mean, it’s true that I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her.”
The father of two further claimed that being a parent himself made it easier for him to understand what he wanted out of life.
“I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.”
Ryan Gosling Also Discussed His Upcoming Film
Ryan Gosling also discussed his upcoming movie, Barbie, which has a July 21st release date. The movie represents a recurring theme in his modern work, which is aimed at the general public. Also, the film is quite different from the independent and art films for which he first gained fame.
The Canadian actor also discussed how he grew up without access to an art cinema. Instead, he was raised on massive blockbusters, action movies, and comedies.
“That’s why I loved movies. It’s those films that made me want to do this. Like, obviously I learned more about film, and I feel very lucky to have gotten to make the movies that I’ve made. But it’s cool to be in a phase of my life where I’m getting to make the kinds of things that inspired me to make film in general.”
In the same interview for the cover of GQ magazine, The Gray Man actor also shared his views about the age bias that has been brought up against him. As he stated:
“I would say, you know, if people do not want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with.”
Directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie is set to open in theaters on July 21.
