The 45-year-old actress possesses excellent acting abilities, stunning good looks, and a warm attitude. She has also been outspoken about her experiences with sexism in Hollywood.
Saldana didn’t hold back when she disclosed how a producer once made her feel that her acting ability didn’t matter and that the only reason she was hired for the film was because she was attractive.
Zoe Saldana wanted to record the disgraceful conversation she had with a producer
During an interview, Zoe Saldana went back in time and talked about the time when she experienced sexism in Hollywood. For the 45-year-old actress, it was one of the most disgraceful moments as she mentioned that a producer called her a b*tch. The Star Trek actress is basking in success right now but she has had her fair share of setbacks in the profession. While talking about sexism in Hollywood, the actress recalled an indecent and said,
“A producer said, ‘I hired you to look good in your underwear holding a gun. This producer was so bothered by the fact that he had to disrupt his vacation to call me and tell me to stop being a difficult b****. I thought, ‘Wow. It’s real. It really happens.”
In another interview, the actress talked about the same incident and said that she still wishes she should have recorded the conversation. The Drumline actress explained she wants all the young elementary girls to know that they should not let anyone treat them this way and this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
Zoe Saldana didn’t have a great experience while shooting for Pirates of the Caribbean
In the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Saldana plays Anamaria. This picture starring Johnny Depp was also one of the films that rocketed her to fame, but her experience on set wasn’t great. The Guess Who actress made it very clear that the star cast of the film was very nice to her and they were not part of the problem. While talking about what she thinks was a problem during the filming, she said,
“The political stuff that went on behind closed doors. People disrespecting me because they look at my number on a call sheet, and they think I’m not important.”
When asked about how she enjoyed filming Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Saldana previously stated that she didn’t have a good time on set. Saldana explained she was overwhelmed on set and she felt like she was lost in trenches.
