She claimed that the range of roles available for women in Hollywood is “pretty scarce.” The Jennifer’s Body star shared a certain type of characters still dominate the female portrayal in films, which mostly includes “the nag, the trophy, the escort.”

“I haven’t been sent a nag script yet, but I do get plenty of, like, ‘interesting stripper,'” she said. Other roles that Fox is offered include a funny escort. “Or, ‘She’s super funny, but she’s also an escort, but that’s what makes it funny!” she shared during her interview.

Fox also claimed that she still did not have a lot of say in her character’s development in films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in which she plays a reporter, April O’Neil. It was not the only film she had issues with, as she was involved in a public feud with the Transformers director as well.

Megan Fox’s Feud With Director Michael Bay

Megan Fox starred alongside Shia LaBeouf in the 2007 sci-fi film Transformers and its sequel Revenge of the Fallen, which was released in 2009. However, she did not reprise her role in the 2011 threequel of the film and was not seen as Mikaela Banes in the franchise again.

It happened after director Michael Bay allegedly fired her from the threequel following her criticism of his directing style. In a 2009 interview with Wonderland magazine, she criticized the director for being controlling and misogynistic on the set. “I’ll say, ‘Who am I talking to? Where am I supposed to be looking at?’ And he responds, ‘Just be sexy,'” she explained during the interview.

It is believed these comments about his directing style were the reason the director decided to cut her character from future Transformers films. The Pain & Gain director later responded to these claims, saying, “I wasn’t hurt because I know that’s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response.”

He then went on to sarcastically apologize to the actress that she had to work twelve hours, and show up on time, as movies are not “always warm and fuzzy.” And the feud took place over a decade ago, it has been reported that the two have made up and are on good terms.
