It is common knowledge that Nicolas Cage is peculiar. Not only is he eccentric but also wild, even when it comes to his professional life. Perhaps it is his wild nature that makes his movie stand out and leaves audiences yearning for more.
While his unique persona has made him the butt of numerous jokes and inspiration for uncountable memes, the Ghost Rider star has no plans to stop any time soon. While filming for his recently released movie, Sympathy For The Devil, Cage yet again showed out his wild side, leaving the Director bewildered by his fanatical antics.
Nicolas Cage Is A Fanatic, States Director
A neo-noir action thriller, Sympathy For The Devil is a dark, gritty, and satirical movie, which yet again features Nicolas Cage as an unhinged character. Known best for playing all the weird characters, Cage is being praised for his amazing acting and contribution to the movie’s production process.
Even the director of the movie, Yuval Adler was left shocked by Cage’s antics on the film set and the dedication he displayed towards the movie. Labeling him as a fanatic, Adler stated,
“I never worked with somebody who’s so fanatic in the best places. Like five, six weeks before the shoot, he’s a hundred percent on the film. You feel like all he does at home in the late hours is sit on the script. I am doing prep and I get 10,000 texts. What about this line? Can I say this? What about this? Why? Can we change it? Look at this video of Truman Capote interviews with Tennessee Williams. What do you think about their accent? Look at his jacket. That, all the time. And brilliant. Right? He comes up with a lot of ideas.”
Well, it isn’t the first time we heard the tale of Cage’s fanaticism, since he also previously consumed a live, real cockroach for his movie Vampire’s Kiss.
Nicolas Cage Asked The Director To Protect Him
Working with Nicolas Cage is one thing and getting used to his uniqueness is another. The actor is always full of ideas and visions and always works to bring out the best in his characters and movies. Hence, when preparing for Sympathy For The Devil, the very first thing Cage asked his director, Yuval Adler was to ‘protect him’ so that he could go wild and make the movie work the best it could.
“His thing is he comes up with so much stuff and then that’s your job to be. And then he told me that, on the set, he would be like, ‘look, I have to trust you to protect me. That’s how I can go wild. So in the editing, you can protect me. If not everything I do, it’s gonna be there.’ So we got into this groove.”
This is precisely what unfolded on the movie set, making it extremely engaging and keeping viewers hanging off the edge of their seats throughout.
Sympathy For The Devil can be streamed on Apple TV.
