Edward Norton, the Oscar-nominated actor has been known for portraying some wild characters throughout his Hollywood career. The actor immediately became famous for portraying the lead role of The Narrator in Fight Club in 1999.
The actor’s breakthrough role was however in the 1996 movie Primal Fear which starred Norton as a teenager with a side that the world isn’t aware of. The Kingdom of Heaven actor’s first Oscar nomination was in the category for “Best Actor In A Supporting Role” during the 1997 Oscars.
Edward Norton Credits Leonardo DiCaprio For His Oscar Nomination
Starring alongside Richard Gere in 1996, the world was introduced to Edward Norton as a young altar boy. Being accused of murdering a priest, Norton’s character of Aaron Stampler and Gere’s character of famous attorney Martin Vail go through a series of mysteries and deceptions of a troubled mind.
Being his debut movie, Norton found himself garnering fame which shot up quickly. The actor was nominated for an Oscar in the category of “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” for Primal Fear. This wouldn’t have been possible if the Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio did not pass up on the role of Aaron Stampler in the first place.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, The Incredible Hulk actor stated that it was Leonardo DiCaprio that originally rejected the role. The actor heard about the auditions from Connie Britton and he simply went and got the role that would change his career forever.
“I heard about it from Connie Britton … She went to a pay phone and called me and said, ‘They’re seeing people for this role and I have the spookiest feeling it’s made for you.'”
After getting Oscar-nominated for the role, Edward Norton went on to star in American History X and Fight Club in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
Edward Norton Makes A Comeback in Hollywood
After the fiasco of the 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton took a break from the Hollywood industry. Finding small movies to do, the actor managed to stay relevant until the recent breakthrough that gave him a comeback in Hollywood.
Starring in the 2019 movie Motherless Brooklyn, the actor was immediately noticed by the people following which he went on to star in more prominent roles further on. The actor was recently seen in the 2022 movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and is confirmed to have 2 upcoming projects further which may bring back the 90s essence that Norton has been known for around the world.
