"I have no idea how they get along": Harrison Ford Refused to Call Kevin Costner for Yellowstone Prequel Amidst Actor's Intense Feud With Showrunner Killed Series

Over the years, 80-year-old Harrison Ford has played various kinds of roles in franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, as well as individual films like The Age of Adaline, Air Force One, and more. But it can’t be denied that seeing him play Jacob Dutton in 1923 was unexpected and yet he fit seamlessly into the role.

The series is a prequel to the Kevin Costner-led Yellowstone. Ford’s Jacob Dutton is the great great grand uncle of Costner’s John Dutton. Because of this close relationship between the characters, one would have thought that the two actors would have swapped notes. But Ford didn’t even contact Costner.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford revealed that he hadn’t called Kevin Costner to talk anything about Yellowstone or 1923. Apparently, he didn’t want to contact him because he wanted to form his own ideas on the project, as well as establish a personal rapport with series creator Taylor Sheridan.

Ford said:

“I wanted my own singular relationship with [‘Yellowstone’ co-creator] Taylor [Sheridan] to rule my behavior and my thoughts. I didn’t want to dirty up the road with somebody else’s. I have no idea how they get along. I would assume they get along great because Kevin does a great job.”

Turns out that the relationship between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan is reportedly not good. In fact, there’s speculation that the decision to end Yellowstone after 5 seasons was partly because of their feud.

New York Post reported that Yellowstone was coming to an end after rumors of rising tensions between lead star Kevin Costner and series co-creator Taylor Sheridan. As per Daily Mail, Sheridan apparently developed a kind of God complex on the show.

As per the site, the Man of Steel actor, who also serves as an executive producer, felt that his opinions were dismissed regarding the direction of the show. He was allegedly told to “stick to acting.”

The outlet reported that:

“He just felt like ‘Yellowstone’ is headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision, and he was met with criticism, including that he should just stick to acting.”

But no matter what, Costner is apparently “proud of and grateful for ‘Yellowstone’ and the cast is like family to him.” Also, even though he might be involved in a tense professional relationship with Sheridan, the actor has no problems with Harrison Ford.

“I respect Kevin enormously and his body of work and everything he’s done, and the work he’s doing in ‘Yellowstone,’ but I’m on my own path. We haven’t had a chance to catch up, but I’m looking forward to it.”

1923 has already been renewed for season 2. It remains to be seen how it plays out.
