Dwayne Johnson reveals being a jerk in the early days of fame

During the late 90s, Dwayne Johnson was on the verge of international fame and had become a very well-known public figure because of his popularity in WWE’s attitude era. But the Jumanji actor revealed that he used to be a jerk at the beginning of his climb to success.

The Rock shared a haunting event during his early days in the industry about a young cheerful couple who approached him for a photo and an autograph. The actor in response didn’t walk off but agreed to fulfill their wish but in a condescending manner which brushed off the excitement from the couple and left them feeling terrible. Even though he took a photo and signed an autograph, the Rock recalls that the couple was genuinely upset by his cruel response. The actor stated,

“They came over and they were so nice. They said, ‘I’m so sorry. We’re so sorry. Can we please have your autograph and a picture? So sorry.’ Of course, I said yes but in a way that made them feel bad. So I said ‘…Sure. Yeah, yeah. They went from excited, and ‘sorry’ but excited, to then they felt bad. I have goosebumps now thinking about it.”

The couple later walked out feeling terrible and the actor felt disappointed in himself. This incident made him change his outward behavior toward others and decided to never treat anyone badly.
