Star Wars Actor Clashed Against Co-star on TV Show After He Was Made To Walk Barefoot Due To His Height

Although many conflicts in the entertainment industry are kept hidden, some become public knowledge and provide insight into the dynamics at play. This was the case with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Kiefer Sutherland, who reportedly clashed while working together on the TV show 24. The Hollywood stars’ disagreement surprisingly stemmed from a height difference between the two.

While viewers may be captivated by the on-screen magic, they are often unaware of the complexities behind the scenes. However, in a 2014 interview with ABC News, actor Freddie Prinze Jr. revealed that his experience on the iconic TV show 24 was far from seamless.

The actor expressed his dislike for the show. What made his experience stand out was the behavior of his co-star, Kiefer Sutherland. Sutherland, known for his intense portrayal of Jack Bauer, was central to Prinze Jr’s grievances. The American actor claimed that Sutherland was “the most unprofessional dude in the world.”

“I did 24, and it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash. I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that…”

There was a rift between the two actors due to their height difference. Freddie Prinze Jr. stood at an impressive 6 feet, towering over Kiefer Sutherland, who stood at 5 feet and 9 inches. Though this height difference was insignificant, it caused a major issue for Prinze Jr.

I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE for Christ’s sake, and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer. But at least he was cool and tall. I didn’t have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which they made me do. Just put the guy on an apple box or don’t hire me next time. You know I’m six feet and he’s five four.”

Although seemingly insignificant, the height difference became a significant issue for Prinze Jr. He complained about having to take off his shoes during scenes with Sutherland to avoid a noticeable contrast in height.

Sutherland’s representative released a statement in response to Prinze’s negative comments. According to the statement, Kiefer had worked with Freddie over five years ago and was unaware of any complaints until Prinze’s interview.

“Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie‘s grievances. Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.”

The representative also mentioned that Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wished him well. Louis Lombardi, who also starred in 24, came to Kiefer Sutherland’s defense in an interview with Us Weekly. Lombardi shared that his experience working with Sutherland was nothing short of exceptional.

The actor described Sutherland as one of the most professional actors he has ever worked with, who always strived for the best in everyone.

“My experience with Kiefer was absolutely the opposite. He was one of the most professional actors I’ve ever worked with.”

Lombardi further stated that he has had only positive experiences with Sutherland.

“He wanted the best out of everybody. I have nothing but great experiences with him. He’s a gentleman.”

Lombardi expressed confusion regarding Freddie Prinze Jr.’s recent comments about Sutherland, suggesting that perhaps Prinze was jealous or that Sutherland had done something to upset him. Lombardi concluded by stating his full support for Sutherland.
