Sydney Sweeney started her acting career with guest roles and landed her first noteworthy job in Netflix’s Everything Sucks! She has come a long way since then and has proved herself to be a good actor by getting a Primetime Emmy nomination for her work in the HBO drama series, Euphoria. However, like everything, there are two sides to the recognition she has gained.
While many praise the 25-year-old actress, others have been critical of her work and even have crossed limits to harass her. It certainly is not easy for Sweeney, and it has re-ignited some of the worst memories from her past. Despite all that, the actress stood her ground and called out trolls and bullies.

Sydney Sweeney Slams Trolls For Making Her Feel Ostracized
During her recent interview with The Sun, Sydney Sweeney shared the constant struggle she had during her school days. And how she has been able to relate to her character in the HBO drama series. Sweeney portrays a troubled teenager Cassie in Euphoria, who is constantly s*xualized. It was similar to what she went through herself in her school.
She shared how she felt “ostracised” in her school for having “b*obs before other girls.” The Euphoria star shared how her on-screen character haunted her in real life. The show features Cassie’s naked videos being shared in her school, and people even started sharing snaps from the clips off-screen as well.
Sweeney shared that it went to a point when people started tagging her cousins and her family in those photos. She called people’s behavior “disgusting and unfair,” saying that the things people do are ridiculous as she is just playing a character.
Sydney Sweeney also mentioned how this behavior convinces her to want to play more characters that would “p*ss people” even more. The Everything Sucks actress also opened up about the struggles she and her family went through in her journey to become a Hollywood star.
Sydney Sweeney’s Family Sacrificed Everything For Her
Sydney Sweeney also opened up about how she convinced her family to let her follow her passion for acting. She shared that she presented a five-year business plan to her parents, and they decided to support her. She continued auditioning for any roles she could get, but things were still not going as planned.
Her parents ended up losing their home, and they had to stay in a motel. Things only got worse, and the Night Teeth actress blamed herself when her parents divorced. She couldn’t help but consider it her fault, despite her parents telling her she had nothing to do with their separation.
She was constantly advised to get a “real job,” which made her feel “guilty that [her] parents had given up so much” for her. Although she wanted to bring her family back and buy back her family house, she was unable to do that due to the “small roles” she received.
However, things took a turn for good after she was cast in the 2018 Netflix show, Everything Sucks! And it was a new beginning for her. The Nocturne star has come a long way, and after starring in multiple hits, she has made a place for herself in one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood.
Sydney Sweeney’s Hollywood Journey
Sydney Sweeney was fascinated by sports before she grew an interest in acting when she landed a role in an independent film. While her parents did not want her to follow her passion, they were convinced after she presented her five-year plan with a slideshow. Her parents supported her and took her for auditions from their hometown to L.A.
Sweeney got her first acting job in L.A. in Heroes Season 4. She also became a part of hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, and Criminal Minds. The Voyeurs actress then landed a role in Omar Samad’s short film Takeo. She was honored with the Best Actress award for the short film at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.
She constantly explored every genre, ranging from comedy to drama and mystery thriller. Followed by several minor roles in multiple shows and movies. Netflix and an HBO series offered her shows Everything Sucks! and Sharp Objects, respectively. She filmed them concurrently. Although Sweeney was initially cast for a much shorter role in Sharp Objects, makers kept calling her back.
She then landed a role in Bruce Miller’s The Handmaid’s Tale as a child bride, Eden Spencer. Quentin Tarantino saw her talent and offered her the part of Dianne Lake, aka Snake, in the 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Her performance in the 2019 HBO series Euphoria served as the big break she had been waiting for.
The 25-year-old actress has since starred in multiple shows, including the HBO hit The White Lotus, and movies. Her most recent release includes Tina Satter’s drama film, Reality. She is set to also star in three upcoming projects, including Sony’s Madame Web as Julia Carpenter alongside Dakota Johnson.
