What Motivates Arnold Schwarzenegger to Learn Ballet?

As a former professional bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger had connections with a variety of people from very different backgrounds. Some of them include gym owners, bodybuilding contest promoters and judges, ballet dancers, actors, directors, Olympic weightlifters, football players, politicians, etc. He would closely observe what made them the best in their field rather than just hanging out with them for fun.

For instance, Schwarzenegger learned a variety of skills, including ballet.

The Austrian Oak has a record of seven Mr. Olympia titles. But setting records requires more than just showing up at the gym with the right gear. When it came to Arnold Schwarzenegger, he did something that most men still do not, and he did it for a good reason.

The Terminator actor, now 76, is still not afraid to learn new skills because, in his opinion:

“People always wonder why Franco and I took ballet lessons. At the time Pumping Iron was filmed, I had already won 12 world titles. I’d won the Olympia for 5 straight years. Why try something new?”

The FUBAR actor gave the following reasons as to why he has attained the height of success and why learned Ballet:

“Because even if we’re the best, we can always be better. Because we’re never going to be perfect, but we can always make progress. Because I believe the joy of life is to always be hungry.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Offered Yet Another Fitness Advice

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a champion bodybuilder who later became an action star, demonstrated that it is possible to maintain your fitness goals over the course of a decades-long career, no matter how busy your schedule is.

And in a recent issue of Men’s Health, he shared one of the little-known techniques that have enabled him and others to maintain their commitment to exercise.

“I’ll be honest. Sometimes when I started lifting weights, the goal of being Mr. Austria or Mr. Europe wasn’t enough for me. Those were motivations to be ripped for the contest. What about the rest of the year? I wanted to show up at the lake in Thal and have the girls say, ‘Look at your muscles.’ I also wanted to prove to the teacher who told me I was a Neanderthal who would be a total failure in life that he was wrong. Every time I got on the tram to go to the stadium in Graz, I saw him telling me I’d never amount to anything. I saw the girls who would show up at the lake the next summer and be shocked at my biceps.”

Schwarzenegger claimed that resentment can be a powerful motivator. Actually, it is quite common to use the criticism you have received in the past as fuel.

“Absurd goals have driven people since the beginning of time. Michael Jordan became the greatest basketball player of all time because he wanted to prove the coach that cut him in high school wrong.”
