You know how sometimes when things are going a little too smoothly in life, you start suspecting it to be the calm before the inevitable storm, just waiting for the other shoe to drop? Salma Hayek & Her Sense of Impending Doom

With a loving, filthy-rich husband, a beautiful daughter, and a dazzling Hollywood career, Salma Hayek‘s life is the paradigm of unadulterated happiness. Despite her idyllic domestic life and successful vocation, however, the Oscar nominee still finds herself fretting over some potential wave of destruction that could just steal her joy at any moment. And when it comes to her marriage, Hayek is especially protective of her beau François-Henri Pinault, and her relationship with him.

After almost 15 years of marital bliss, the Desperado star and the billionaire French businessman are just as deeply in love with each other as they were when they first started dating. But every once in a while, Hayek admitted she finds herself in the grip of the fear that her paradisal life is just inches away from coming undone.

“I think that it’s very easy, when you’ve been with someone for a long time, to take each other for granted. Having a good marriage is one of the hardest things. I get a little bit nervous because for me it hasn’t even been that hard. It’s kind of like when something good happens to you and you’re waiting for the hit.”

But it’s not all bad, there’s a bright side to look forward to as well.

The Silver Lining of the Hayek-Pinault Household

As bothersome as that nagging fear tends to be, Hayek, who legally changed her name to Salma Hayek Pinault after marriage, remarked how that in turn encourages you to bring your A-game to the table.

“So, in a way, it’s good to be waiting for the shoe to drop because you’re like, ‘Better wake up, be on your game, and make it a little bit extra fun,’ or something. It keeps you on your toes.”

Hayek, 56, tied the knot with Pinault, 61, back in 2009, just a couple of years after they first started dating and had a lovely daughter together, Valentina Paloma Pinault. But the Magic Mike’s Last Dance star hadn’t readily welcomed the prospect of marriage thanks to her phobia of the same. In fact, Pinault had to stick around much longer just to get her to agree, and good thing he did, because now they’re living their happily-ever-after.
