The Shazam 2 actress explained the situation by stating,
“I had to be in the bed with him, you know. I’m dressed up to here. But I’m lying there and I’m thinking, ‘I’m in bed with Harrison Ford.’ I was so excited, I can’t tell you. I had to pretend to be cool. Don’t tell him. Promise me,”
Apart from their time together in the 1883 sequel, Mirren recalled memories from their first time working together on the sets of The Mosquito Coast and explained how she was left in awe of the actor.
Helen Mirren was left in complete awe by Harrison Ford’s demeanor
Ever since their time together in 1986’s The Mosquito Coast, which kickstarted the special bond between Mirren and Ford, the two have been pretty vocal about their fondness for each other. The actress explained that she was fascinated by the actor’s generosity and expressed her feelings for Ford by stating,
“He’s amazing. He really is. The stature he’s held, as a major, humongous movie star, all that time, at the same time as somebody who doesn’t love the limelight. He has this interior quality to him. He’s come to a place where he can be easy with other actors. It’s immensely generous and incredibly professional. Not remotely spoiled movie star, at all. I genuinely love him. If I wasn’t married …”
Although the duo is happily married to their respective partners, it didn’t impact their chemistry onscreen, as they perfected their roles as Jacob and Cara Dutton in Sheridan’s Western.
1923 is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
