Brendan Fraser has made the biggest comeback in Hollywood with his movie The Whale. It has not only marked his return to the industry but also managed to bag his first-ever Oscar nomination for the role. His journey in the film industry hasn’t been the easiest but he has still kept a healthy and happy relationship with everyone involved.
He’s still one of the most loved actors and every other celebrity will only have positive things to say about the actor. However, his journey has pushed him into a sense of self-loathing and seriously took a toll on him both physically and psychologically. Fraser recently opened up about his past and how it affected his entire career in a way.
Brendan Fraser Was Broken Physically While Doing His Stunts
Brendan Fraser recently talked about his past movies and how they had all taken a lot of effort to film because of his choice of doing his own stunts. The actor revealed how working with a fit body led him to being his own stuntman. It left him broken and bruised by a lot. It got so bad that he needed surgeries to repair all the harm he endured.
“Absolutely, there was self-loathing. I think on some level I felt I deserved [a beating] and wanted to be the one who got in the first punch.”
The impact that movies like The Mummy and George of the Jungle had on him physically was not the best and yet he continued doing his stunts. The only thing that helped him through was the thought that he would get better soon. For him, each day on set was a day for him to slowly assemble himself, piece by piece, and walk onto the scenes as if his body wasn’t aching a bunch.
Brendan Fraser Receives His First Oscar Nomination
Brendan Fraser has received his first-ever Oscar nomination after years of being in the Hollywood industry. The Whale marked his official comeback in cinema and he received a lot of appreciation for it. While the movie had been criticized a lot for its use of fat suits and the angle on obesity in itself. Fans had been rooting for him to get his first nomination and he very much did. Now their goal has changed from getting the actor a nomination to making sure he wins for his brilliant performance.
