Katie Holmes won over hearts with her first TV show Dawson’s Creek, in which she portrays one of the lead characters Joey Potter. The show was not only the first big step for her career but also toward her high-profile love life. She found her first love on the set of the teen drama in his co-star and on-screen romantic partner Pacey Witter, portrayed by Joshua Jackson. Holmes described it as an “incredible and indescribable” thing.
Although the two separated after dating for a year, fans were sure that she was referring to her Dawson’s Creek co-star as she talked about her “first love” during an interview with Rolling Stone.
Katie Holmes Talks About Her First Love
During a 1998 interview with Rolling Stone, Katie Holmes talked about her first love. The Dawson’s Creek star shared that she met someone that she fell in love with last year. She also said that she was fortunate to have someone like that person in her life and treasured their relationship.
“I’m just going to say that I met somebody last year. I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always.”
Holmes also shared that she feels fortunate to have someone like that in her life, as he also helped her personally and professionally. “He’s been in the business so long, and he’s really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional,” she shared.
Although she did not name anyone while mentioning that one person, fans were quick to assume that Holmes was talking about Joshua Jackson, who starred alongside her in Dawson’s Creek. The two reportedly dated for a year before calling it quits in 1999. However, they continued to be good friends even after their split.
Joshua Jackson Was Concerned For Katie Holmes
Although they broke things off after dating for a year, Katie Holmes and Joshua Johnson have remained good friends while working on Dawson’s Creek and after the show concluded. Holmes would later marry the action star Tom Cruise, and the Shutter actor also got married in 2019.
Their busy life and schedule caused them to lose touch until Jackson visited his former co-star in 2008 while she rehearsed for her Broadway debut All My Sons. Reports claimed that he was concerned for her after seeing her tired and black circles under her eyes.
Sources claimed that Holmes did not seem okay at the time, and Jackson was also worried about her and reached out to assure her that she still had friends. They claimed that the Alone Together star was shocked but also happy to see him.
