A captivating actress whose talent knows no bounds, Berry has never stepped back from performing her fight scenes as well as carrying out her stunts herself. But despite not being scared of shooting even the most dangerous of scenes, this one scene managed to stop her fearless gig, and it wasn’t even an action scene.
Apparently, the scene that successfully stopped Halle Berry down was a love scene from her movie Die Another Day, where her James Bond co-star had to do the Heimlich on her as she couldn’t breathe properly for a bizarre reason.
The Love Scene That Proved Dangerous To The Fearless Halle Berry
While no action-packed fight scene or stunt ever managed to stop Halle Berry from being fearless, this one love scene proved to be rather dangerous for her as she found herself gasping for breath while shooting it.
Dating back to her 2002 movie Die Another Day with Pierce Brosnan, there was this one scene where Berry had to seduce her James Bond co-star while eating a fig. Everything was going well until the piece that she had bit into lodged in her throat, completely changing the mood on sets and having her unable to breathe. Recalling the incident on The Tonight Show, the Catwoman star said,
“Not an action scene, but one time I was doing a scene with Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day. I was supposed to be all sexy and trying to seduce him with a fig, and then I end up choking on it. [Laughs] He had to get up and do the Heimlich … So not sexy. Like, so not sexy.”
Sharing the embarrassing scene, Berry went ahead to reveal how Brosnan is ‘one of her favorite people in the world’.
“James Bond knows how to Heimlich. He was there for me. He will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”
But while Halle Berry was busy giving all the credit to Pierce Brosnan, her Die Another Day co-star seems to be too humble to take too much credit.
Pierce Brosnan’s Take On The ‘Choking Story’ With Halle Berry
From the way Halle Berry talked about it, it almost seemed like Pierce Brosnan saved her life. But the Tomorrow Never Dies actor didn’t want to take too much credit for the behind-the-scenes situation. Appearing on Jimmy Fallon‘s The Tonight Show two months after his Die Another Day love interest, when the topic of Berry’s embarrassing choking incident came up, Brosnan said,
“I vaguely remember it. I’ve seen little quotes in the press recently. Yeah, we were on the set. I’m not quite sure what I did. I might have Heimliched her. I’m not sure. [Laughs] I just patted her on the back.”
But regardless of whatever he might say, Halle Berry remains super thankful to Brosnan to date, with him being ‘forever her Bond’, as posted by the actress on Twitter on Die Another Day‘s 20th anniversary.
