Gwyneth Paltrow has appeared in multiple Marvel movies now as Tony Stark’s love interest. In most of the movies, her role has been pretty much limited except for Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Endgame. However, fans have loved her character as well as the character development she went through.
The depth and growth her character has achieved through the franchise has been remarkable. But despite her journey, her role has been largely limited when it comes to action scenes. This has been very inconvenient for her, and Paltrow often demanded to have more screen time when it comes to action scenes and stunts.
Gwyneth Paltrow Wanted To Have Action Scenes With Robert Downey Jr.
Gwyneth Paltrow has been playing Pepper Potts for the same time as Robert Downey Jr. has been playing Iron Man. Despite playing Tony Stark’s lady love, Paltrow’s portrayal has been more of an independent, courageous woman who knows what she is doing and what she wants. Her ‘independence’ and ’empowering’ female character has been unlike the rest and has been well-appreciated by fans.
When she first came overboard, her screen space was very limited in terms of action scenes and stunts. Despite being a central character in Tony Stark’s life, she wasn’t shown engaged in combat. Hence, when the second movie came out, Paltrow demanded she had more action scenes,
“I don’t want to just keep sitting there. I hope [I get some action scenes], that would be great.”
And it was what she got when Iron Man 3 came out. Not only is her role very integral to the plot but she also got temporary superhuman abilities. Furthermore, she plays an even more significant role in Avengers: Endgame where she dons her superhero suit and is seen in combat with the rest of the Avengers.
Gwyneth Paltrow Is Done With Marvel
Gwyneth Paltrow has been in 6 Marvel movies so far and her role has been well-liked by fans so far. However, it has been a long journey of over 15 years, and with her on-screen husband Tony Stark aka Iron Man dead, she hasn’t been keen to make a comeback.
She also previously mentioned that she is perhaps too old to be Pepper Potts again and has been lucky enough with how far she has gotten. However, Paltrow also recently mentioned that she is finally done with MCU but doing a small cameo wouldn’t hurt. Since her character is not dead, Marvel may ask her to come back sometime or the other.
With Stark gone, it would only be interesting to see how Potts fits into the future of the MCU, that is if she even has a future.
The Iron Man franchise can be streamed on Disney+.
