The strong chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the Twilight film series was one of the reasons why fans gushed over it. The duo not only gained much acclaim for starring opposite each other, their supernatural romance even turned off-screen which was what one fandom could wish for.
While the actress had less interest in the film, she eventually accepted to go with the flow when her on-screen partner was selected. A fun fact for fans, she only wanted to work with Pattinson for the Twilight series!
Kristen Stewart Was Unimpressed With Unrealistic Twilight Concept!
The 33-year-old actress, Kristen Stewart opened up about how she hated the successful franchise for being so unrealistic, especially the film’s plot. It is not a surprise that the film was quite in the spotlight whether it be good or bad. Even she had her doubt about joining the film when she got a brief idea of what it was all about.
She told MTV,
“When I read little brief descriptions of the movie, I was like, ‘I don’t want to be part of that.’ I was working on something else, and I didn’t want to have my focus stray. It was like, ‘I don’t wanna be part of this very set unrealistic ideological of love and push it on every little girl because they’re never gonna get that.'”
However, she eventually accepted it when she realized what her character really was.
“Bella wears the pants in the relationship. She’s the sure-footed confident one. She’s naive to the world of vampires and everything like that, but she’s not doing it for him. It takes a lot of power and strength to subject yourself to someone completely, to give up the power. It has to start there.”
Another factor involved in her staying in the franchise was her co-star and former lover, Robert Pattinson.
Robert Pattinson’s Casting Made Kristen Stewart Stay in Twilight Saga
While Stewart was cast first for the film, finding the best vampire for her on-screen character was quite challenging. Along with filmmaker, Catherine Hardwicke, she screen-tested with several stars for a perfect partner but she only found hope in Pattinson.
She told the outlet,
“If Rob didn’t get the part, if they didn’t think I was right about who we should cast, I couldn’t have done the movie.”
She further continued,
“He was the only guy who came in feeling like it. He looked terrified, and you could feel pain from him. He wasn’t just concerned with standing in a statuesque way and posing. He had the right things going on in his head and at the same time he was very responsive. He didn’t have this set thing that he was doing, he could see me.”
She was impressed when the actor would improvise his performance based on what she did which she didn’t have with anyone else.
“I hate it when people are so structured that they’ve got what they’re doing down. But we could see each other. It was a responsiveness thing. I didn’t have that with anybody else.”
She complimented him for being a hard worker who became close while filming and dated each other for four years.
The Twilight movies are streaming on Peacock.
