Making her film debut with the 2008 film Vigilante, Margot Robbie has now become one of the highest-paid and highly acclaimed actresses in Hollywood. She has been in conversation for her latest feature, Barbie, which recently crossed the mark of $ 1 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of her career. The audience loved Robbie in the role and is even eager to know if they will see her as Barbie once again.
While she has had a brilliant career over the last few years, she might have missed her chance at success in Hollywood and stardom soon after her breakout role. Robbie had her big break in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street. Despite having a big break, the actress was planning to quit acting.
Margot Robbie Almost Quit Acting After Her Breakout Role
Following her debut in 2008, Margot Robbie landed the role of Naomi Lapagial in Martin Scorsese‘s 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street. Starring alongside the Oscar-winning actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robbie took some extreme measures to star in the movie and even went on to slap her co-star.
It was a critical and commercial success and is still the highest-grossing film of Martin Scorsese’s career. Based on a memoir of the same name, the movie follows the frauds of American entrepreneur and former stockbroker Jordon Belfort. Robbie’s character in The Wolf of Wall Street was based on Belfort’s ex-wife.
And she did exactly what was required of her character. Her performance as Naomi Lapagial made her stand out and is still considered one of the best roles of her career. However, the fame and attention the 2013 movie brought were too much to handle for the Barbie star at the time.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, she opened up about feeling “pretty awful” and shared that she wanted to leave the industry. “I remember saying to my mum, ‘I don’t think I want to do this.’” she recalled. And she was able to get her thoughts straight after her mother made her realize that there was no way back from where she was at the time.
Margot Robbie Believed Barbie Would Cross the $1 Billion Mark
While Margot Robbie was overwhelmed with too much attention after starring in the 2013 Martin Scorsese film, she has now become more confident in her appearance and her work. With crossing the mark of $1 billion at the box office, Barbie is soon expected to become the highest-grossing film of 2023.
And the lead star of the film has shared that she always believed that it would be the biggest film of her career. During a recent interview with Collider, the actress shared that she pitched the idea that the movie could make a billion dollars.
“And I think I told them that it’d make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, okay?!” she said. And the actress’s prediction was right as the movie has already grossed $1.04 billion worldwide and is expected to soon become the highest-grossing movie of 2023.
Barbie is playing in theatres.
