George Clooney Turned Down A Famous Role
During the 64th BFI London Film Festival in October 2020, George Clooney made a startling revelation that he and Paul Newman had originally been cast to portray the younger and older versions of Noah in the film adaptation of The Notebook in 2004.
However, Clooney confessed that he felt too daunted to take on the role opposite Newman, who he described as one of the most attractive men. The actor explained that despite their desire to collaborate, they ultimately decided that the project wasn’t a good fit for them.
“He’s one of the most handsome guys you’ve ever seen. We met up [again], and I said, ‘I can’t play you. I don’t look anything like you. This is insane,'” the actor said. “We just wanted to do it because we wanted to work together, [but] it ended up being not the right thing for us to do.”
