“I don’t know if I can work with Taylor Sheridan”: Marvel Star Zoe Saldana Hesitated to Work With Yellowstone Creator for Special Ops: Lioness After Kevin Costner’s Furious Exit from Franchise

Zoe Saldana has established herself among the renowned actresses in the world all thanks to her globally popular role in Avatar and MCU franchise. She has already kicked off her first TV series Special Ops: Lioness where she plays the role of a CIA officer. She is in charge of training an undercover rookie, being played by Laysla De Oliveira. Given that she has already taken over the strong-willed Joe’s role, it was not always in the plan.

Recently, she opened up about having a little doubt to take on the project, and the reason is the show creator, Taylor Sheridan.

Taylor Sheridan is highly recognized for being the co-creator of the Yellowstone franchise with the main series running for five seasons. It is followed by its prequels and the untitled sequel series, which are in the works.

Given the prominence, he holds in the television world, it would be quite surprising that someone would want to reconsider his offer. However, Zoe Saldana originally turned down the offer to star in Special Ops: Lioness despite the fact that he wrote the role for her. As to why she initially passed on the role, it happened when she visited his Yellowstone series set along with her husband Marco and two friends who flew in his private jet.

“It was like, ‘Let’s just hop on your plane and go have dinner with Taylor Sheridan on his set,’” she says. “For my husband and I, this kind of stuff just isn’t normal.”

Sources have been reporting Costner’s exit to Yellowstone for quite a while due to his supposed drama with the show creator. The actor who has been associated with the project since 2018 has finally left the show after the fifth season. The duo’s apparent fallout happened due to the former’s scheduling conflicts which affected the project.

It has been reported that the actor indulged in the production of his film, Horizon which sparked speculations that he would only be filming Sheridan’s show once a week. This turned out to be a bluff as his lawyer set the record straight.

“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second.”

They continued,

As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.”

There are also reports of the duo’s on-set egos that have kept crews and other cast puzzled and frustrated. Amid the tension, the result is already out.
