Jennifer Lawrence is one of those actors who can perform several roles and genres. She proved herself as an A-List actor from her performances as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise to an allegory for Mother Earth in Mother!
Despite doing heavier genres like playing Mystic in MCU, Lawrence proves she can even shine in dark comedies. Lawrence showcases her dry sense of humor in her unique portrayal of Rosalyn in American Hustle. Furthermore, she skillfully blends comedy and drama as Tiffany, a lovable character dealing with significant loss, in Silver Linings Playbook.
Jennifer Lawrence is a Bit of a Comedy Novice and All Set to Hop in the New Genre
The Hunger Games actress recently starred in the raunchy sex comedy No Hard Feelings, released on June 23, 2023. Jennifer Lawrence shared her thoughts on the movies she would like to do in the future. The actress revealed that she wants to only do ‘R-rated’ films from now on.
In No Hard Feelings, Lawrence plays Maddie Barker, a financially struggling Uber driver who starts dating an awkward 19-year-old teenager played by Andrew Barth Feldman (who offers her a Buick Regal).
Lawrence revealed that she always rejected comedy films because she never found them funny, but No Hard Feelings changed her mindset. She also admitted that ‘It’s hard to make a comedy’ without offending anyone. After her crazy role in 2021’s Don’t Look Up, Lawrence seems a bit of a comedy novice, and now with that, she’s hoping to fill a space in this genre.
Jennifer Lawrence Admitted R-rated Films are her ‘Sweet Spot’
To promote her film No Hard Feelings, Lawrence got featured on the cover of Interview Magazine. In an interview with the magazine, the actress revealed that she would like to do ‘R-rated’ films from now on. About her filming experience, she says:
“It was a blast. I’ve always wanted to do comedy, and I’ve been asked a million times.”
Jennifer Lawrence interviewed with her fellow actress Cameron Diaz. Diaz praised her acting and told Lawrence was ‘super excited’ for No Hard Feelings. Diaz said that Jennifer was “born to do hard R comedies.”
She told Lawrence, “It might be your sweet spot.” And after such an overwhelming experience while making No Hard Feelings, Lawrence says:
“If that’s my sweet spot, then I don’t ever want to do anything else.”
No Hard Feelings is now available on streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video.
