There have been many actors who regret giving up on some of the biggest roles that ended up getting actors Oscars and massive fame. A very famous one happens to be Brad Pitt giving up the role of Neo in The Matrix as well as Leonardo DiCaprio giving up American Psycho.

Michelle Pfeiffer Did Not Want To Do The Silence Of The Lambs

The Silence Of The Lambs was a movie that got Jodie Foster an Oscar and the film was highly acclaimed by critics, bringing it a big chunk of brilliant reviews. Jonathan Demme made the movie one of the most mind-bending versions of Hannibal Lecter that exist even now. The movie took a trajectory not expected by many but it was a box office hit.

“I was trepidatious,” she continued. “There was such evil in that film. It was that evil won in the end, that at the end of that film evil ruled out. I was uncomfortable with that ending. I didn’t want to put that out into the world.”

Michelle Pfeiffer opened up about not wanting to be a part of the movie. She stated that the script was far from what she was comfortable doing with the amount of focus on the antagonist. She did not like the concept of the villain winning in the end and did not even want a hand in bringing something like that to life.

Michelle Pfeiffer was sad having to only work with Jonathan Demme once before he passed away sadly in 2017. She had a chance to work with him for The Silence Of The Lambs but her own reasons kept her from doing so.

Her dismay of not having to work in Thelma & Louise was also high, knowing that the only reason she said no to the movie was because of scheduling conflicts. So many reasons piled up for her to miss out on some incredible movies that would have greatly benefitted her career. Although she gave up a lot of roles, she managed to gain many as well. Currently, her most famous role is as Janet Van Dyne in the Ant-Man trilogy.
