Emily Blunt has become one of the major actresses in Hollywood in her mere 22-year-old career. An incredible superstar, the 40-year-old actress had landed numerous important roles in blockbuster movies and multi-billionaire franchises and was even ranked among the highest-paid actresses in the world in 2022. With her recent movie Oppenheimer, Blunt is the current up-and-coming actress, with no intention to stop.
However, recent reports claim that behind Emily Blunt bagging a role in Christopher Nolan’s recent superhit Oppenheimer, her husband and actor John Krasinski unknowingly played a massive part in it, thanks to him bumping into the renowned filmmaker in his building’s elevator.
John Krasinski Bumping Into Christopher Nolan Got Emily Blunt Cast In Oppenheimer
With her versatile and charismatic personality, Emily Blunt is easily one of the top-rated actresses in Hollywood. She portrays all her characters in the most natural and nuanced way that directors don’t have to think twice before casting her for a role. Christopher Nolan’s recent Oppenheimer is just another proof of this.
But recent reports claim that while Blunt got the role on her own, her husband John Krasinski also played an important role in her getting cast into the superhit director’s movie. In a recent interview, Matt Damon, who is one of Blunt’s co-stars in the movie, revealed how Nolan came to them for their roles, saying,
“He [Christopher Nolan] came to our apartment building to meet with me, and he already knew that he was gonna go to Emily with the other part. But he literally didn’t because he didn’t want to seem like he was only going to one building to cast the entire movie.”
Adding to this revelation, the Devil Wears Prada actress continued to share how the director bumped into Krasinski in their building’s elevator and said,
“I was about to come to you for the part, but I didn’t want it to be offensive. Oh, by the way, while you’re here, give this to your wife.”
Christopher Nolan’s Take On Emily Blunt’s Part In Oppenheimer
Oppenheimer filmmaker Christopher Nolan also claimed how he found Blunt as the perfect match for roleplaying Kitty Oppenheimer, who is the wife of Cillian Murphy‘s male protagonist and scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer. Continuing to share his take on Emily Blunt’s role in the movie, Nolan said,
“I’ve met her [Emily Blunt] a couple of times over the years, and I really felt like she would connect with this character. Kitty Oppenheimer is a very, very complicated person. And Emily, just as one of the great actors of her generation, is just able to tap into all of the things that are so marvelously challenging about this person and about the relationship with Oppenheimer.”
This makes one thing clear- that while Nolan broke the news first to John Krasinski about his wife’s role in the movie, it was always his intention to cast Emily Blunt in the film.
