And we were just dying laughing about the ad and the idea of parents actually doing this. Four years ago I got the script and it was the funniest thing I’ve ever read, so we were like let’s go. And I didn’t even want to work I wasn’t going to work for a long time and I just wanted to make it as soon as possible.”

Gene Stupnitsky wrote the film No Hard Feelings for Jennifer Lawrence
The film No Hard Feelings is a thorough comedy, and the first scene sets the tone. In the scene, Maddie attempts to seduce the socially awkward teenager, however, it goes horribly wrong because Percy mistakes her moves as a kidnapping attempt. He pepper sprays her in his defense. The director, Gene Stupnitsky, shared that she wrote the role specifically for Jennifer Lawrence.
Sharing about the reason for casting Lawrence, she shared with AP News,
“The reason I wrote this movie for her is that I knew how funny she was, and I wanted everyone else to know. People know she’s funny but want her in a comedy. I thought, ‘Yes. I know how to do this. I know how to write her voice.’ I told her, ‘I really want you to experience the feeling of sitting in a theater with hundreds of people laughing.’ She’s had many experiences in film but hasn’t quite had this one.”
No Hard Feelings has grossed $87 million worldwide.
