Upon the release of Catch Me If You Can in 2002, movie enthusiasts worldwide were eager to hear Leonardo DiCaprio’s perspective on working with his co-star Tom Hanks and renowned director Steven Spielberg. Amy Adams’ Career Didn’t Take Off After Leonardo DiCaprio Movie
Contrary to expectations, Amy Adams initially faced a stagnant period in her career after her role in Catch Me If You Can. In 2003, she had no film or TV appearances to her name. The following year, 2004, proved to be equally challenging as her career failed to gain momentum. However, the tide began to turn for Adams in 2005 when she received an Oscar nomination and made notable appearances in episodes of The Office.

In a 2013 interview with Elle UK, Adams candidly discussed the challenging period she faced following her role in Catch Me If You Can, highlighting the difficulties she encountered in her career during that time.
“I choked. I felt this pressure to suddenly be this level of actress that I wasn’t confident enough to be. I did a series of really bad auditions, I let the nerves get the best of me. And the couple of years after that it was, ‘I can’t do this. I’m not strong enough to continue with this level of rejection’. It was, “What am I going to do with my life?” I was staring down 30. I was lost, confused.”
Amy Adams Was Scared Of Working With Steven Spielberg
Before her role in Catch Me If You Can, Amy Adams had predominantly been the lead in several smaller projects. However, she had not yet garnered the experience of collaborating with individuals of the caliber and prominence of Steven Spielberg and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Considering these circumstances, one can easily envision the apprehension Adams may have felt when taking on her role in Catch Me If You Can. Yet, based on Adams’ accounts of her time working on the film, it appears that she had an extraordinary and fulfilling experience.
“The thought of Steven Spielberg is a lot scarier than the actual person. He’s so nice. Driving up to the gates was overwhelming: ‘Who are you here to see?’ ‘Uh, Steven Spielberg?’ It’s just so ‘This is not my life.'”
