Secret Invasion, a series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has captivated viewers with its gripping plot and surprising turns. One of the many impressive actors in Secret Invasion is Dermot Mulroney, who plays President Ritson, the United States’ leader in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Mulroney recently commented on the fact that Harrison Ford, the Hollywood legend, will be making his MCU debut as Thunderbolt Ross, who could succeed him as President of the United States in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World.
Dermot Mulroney’s Concerns for President Ritson
Dermot Mulroney, who plays President Ritson, discussed Harrison Ford’s possible casting as President Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Brave New World in an interesting interview with ComicBookMovie.

Mulroney said, “That’s bad news,” when asked how he felt about handing off the presidency to Ford. President Ritson’s future and the potential consequences he may face within the world of Secret Invasion are uncertain, and the actor’s response reflects that.
Despite President Ritson’s central role in the Secret Invasion plot, Mulroney doubts the character’s long-term viability and continuity beyond the current season.
“Yeah, no, I knew about this. I don’t know what anybody’s intent is. I couldn’t ask for more. I am so fulfilled and thrilled to have been in Secret Invasion, but I have no concept of whether Ritson survives, lives on, or continues in the storyline. It’d be a thrill, of course. But if I have to lose the next election to one American and it happens to be Harrison Ford, I guess that’s fair enough.”
The actor’s comments ratchet up the suspense about President Ritson’s ultimate fate, making viewers eager for the next episode to discover more.
Harrison Ford’s Potential Future In The MCU
In light of the current political climate, Mulroney humorously proposed that Vice President Ritson would serve under him if Harrison Ford were to become president.
He joked, “Maybe I can run – There’s nothing about two terms.” Further adding,
“And that’s okay. Maybe I can run– There’s nothing about two terms. I could be his vice president, right? I could do two terms as president and then two terms as vice president under President Harrison Ford.”
It’s reasonable to assume that President Ritson is a high priority for infiltrating Skrulls due to his high profile. Gravik, the villainous Skrull, faces an uphill battle in his pursuit of the President, thanks to Nick Fury’s dogged efforts to keep him safe.
The fact that Harrison Ford is playing President Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Brave New World makes it seem highly unlikely that President Ritson will survive, despite Fury’s efforts being highlighted in the final trailer.
On the other hand, Mulroney admitted that President Ritson might resign in the wake of Secret Invasion’s chaos. The show has thrown some curveballs, so we don’t know how President Ritson’s storyline will ultimately play out.
Viewers will undoubtedly enjoy the revelations in the last episode of Secret Invasion and eagerly anticipate the unveiling of President Ritson’s ultimate fate as the show continues to captivate them with its captivating storyline and remarkable performances.
Currently, you can watch Secret Invasion on Disney+, and on July 26, 2024, you can see the premiere of Captain America: Brave New World in theaters.
