Alfred Molina has had quite a sensational career over the years in Hollywood, and he is famously known for his portrayal of Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus in the Spider-Man franchise directed by Sam Raimi and again reprising his role in the latest installment of the Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Alfred Molina’s return in the franchise along with Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin has been one of the most fan-favorite moments in the movie, and fans are expecting both of them to reprise their roles again in the upcoming Spider-Man movie alongside Tom Holland. Though Dafoe has shown interest in returning to the franchise, Molina has also hinted that it might not be the end of his Doc Ock career.

Alfred Molina Hints at a Potential Return in MCU

Alfred Molina has been quite an influential celebrity throughout his career in the Hollywood industry and his work has been globally recognized bringing him worldwide fame. Though he has had many famous movie roles and many more blockbusters, his most fan-loved role is when he took on the role of the antagonist of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man sequel as Doctor Octavius starring along with Tobey Maguire. And with his recent reappearing in the latest Spider-Man film, fans want more of him in the franchise as the concept of the multiverse and multiversal travel has been established in MCU.

In an interview with Radio Times, Alfred Molina was asked if would be surprising the fans by reprising his role as Doc Ock again in the franchise or in any upcoming Spider-Man films to which he replied,

“I can neither confirm nor deny, that’s the official line. I got into a bit of trouble over the last iteration because I happened to let the cat out of the bag quite innocently.”

The last time Alfred Molina was interviewed related to the Spider-Man movie, he made a brutal slip-up that revealed his potential return to the franchise due to which he also received some heat from the higher-ups. So this time around Molina is keeping his mouth tightly sealed to prevent any careless slip-ups and being on the headlines of every major media article.

Spider-Man: No Way Home arguably had one of the wildest plots a Spider-Man movie ever had and moreover it was a massive blockbuster movie as it had critical positive reviews and a very high IMDb rating of 8.2/10. Moreover, the movie introduced the concept of the multiverse into MCU which will open up vast possibilities going forward. The introduction of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and J.K. Simmons further boosted the movie into being one of the top movies of the entire Marvel franchise.

No Way Home amassed a total of over $1.92 billion at the box office after it was released worldwide with a mere budget of $200 million. With such a massive blockbuster, the movie is ranked in third position in terms of box office collection. Furthermore, in an interview with Deadline, back in 2022, Tom Rothman, a Sony Pictures executive shared that a few projects are in the works for the next installation but nothing has been set in stone yet and even the cast has not been decided for it.
