Samuel L. Jackson on what kept him away from the Oscars
Jackson shared in the interview about the instances, which took Oscar away from him. He shared that some of his highly impactful scenes were cut in the final movies. The actor revealed a long dialogue in A Time To Kill, which was deleted from the film,
“The things they took out kept me from getting an Oscar. Really, motherf*ckers? You just took that shit from me? My first day working on that film, I did a speech in a room with an actor and the whole fucking set was in tears when I finished. I was like, Okay. I’m on the right page. That shit is not in the movie! And I know why it’s not. Because it wasn’t my movie, and they weren’t trying to make me a star.”
He added,
“That was one of the first times that I saw that sh*t happen. There are things that I’ve done in other movies where I said, “Wait a minute. Why did you take that moment out of the movie?” Because the moment, in that movie, it’s bigger than the movie.”
The actor did not reveal the movies for which he thought he deserved an Oscar, however, some of his most notable works were Jungle Fever, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, The Negotiator, Unbreakable, Jackie Brown, and more.
