Johnny Depp Never Misses Pirates of the Caribbean After He Was Kicked Out From His Hard Earned Franchise

Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow will perhaps remain the actor’s most iconic role ever. The Pirates of the Caribbean movie series began with The Curse of the Black Pearl and went on to create a $4.5 billion-grossing franchise. The franchise has five movies to its name with a reported sixth movie and a spin-off in the works. However, fans are left wondering if they will see Depp back again as Jack Sparrow in another Pirates film.

During his defamation lawsuit, the From Hell actor revealed that he wouldn’t consider a return to the franchise after Disney strained their relationship by firing him even before a verdict came.

Johnny Depp attended the Barcelona Film Festival in 2021 to promote his film, Minamata. The Lone Ranger actor took some questions from the press and one newspaper, El País, asked him whether he misses the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Depp revealed that he did not miss the movie or the character, because he never let go of them. The Transcendence actor answered:

“No, I don’t miss it, because I have it every day, I always carry it with me, I travel with Captain Jack in my suitcase. I belong to Jack Sparrow and he is loyal to me.”

The Black Mass actor always entertained fans and children with his appearance as Jack Sparrow off-screen. Depp has previously surprised fans with the Disney character at several events. The Tourist actor also frequently brings happiness to children in hospital with his pirate costume. No wonder, the Murder on the Orient Express actor carries Captain Jack Sparrow with him everywhere.

The producer of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Jerry Bruckheimer, has since made attempts to bring back Johnny Depp to the franchise. After his firing, Bruckheimer tried to include Depp’s cameo as Jack Sparrow in the sixth installment, but Disney refused this proposal. Following Depp’s defamation trial, Bruckheimer continues to actively pursue him to return to the saga.

However, the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actor refuses to return because of his unjust firing. The fans still have hope as Depp, in June 2023, hinted that he’s open to returning to the franchise only if it’s the right script for him. As Depp seeks to rebuild his career after the legal battles, there’s no doubt that another Jack Sparrow appearance would be celebrated by fans all over.
