It’s very common for movies to perform poorly at the box office. Many stars of such movies are often ashamed to even talk about it. Actor Sylvester Stallone once talked about his worst movie, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992). The movie was an action/comedy about a mother’s visit to her son who is a police sergeant.
It’s not even like the actor had trouble finding work, he was a well-established star by then. Unlike the film, it’s funny to note that this wasn’t the only terrible film in Stallone’s filmography. The actor’s performance in Oscar (1991) was so bad that the actor earned a Golden Raspberry nomination for “Worst Actor.”

Sylvester Stallone talked about his worst movie
In a 2006 interview, actor Sylvester Stallone was asked to name his worst film. The actor, with no hesitation, replied,
“The worst film I’ve ever made by far… maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we’ve never seen… a flatworm could write a better script than Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. In some countries – China, I believe – running Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot once a week on government television has lowered the birth rate to zero. If they ran it twice a week, I believe in twenty years China would be extinct. Does that put it in perspective?”
Certainly, the actor gave a very bizarre example to put it in perspective, however, he is not wrong. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was indeed a terrible film. It received an IMDb rating of 4.3 out of 10.
The actor was lured into working in this film
Now, one must be wondering: Why did Sylvester Stallone agree to do this film? The answer is quite funny. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed in 2017 that he got the script first and then lured Stallone into playing the part,
“I read the script. It was so bad. You know, I’ve also done some movies that went right in the toilet, right? That were bad. But this was really bad. So I went in – this was during our war – I said to myself, ‘I’m going to leak out that I have tremendous interest.’ I know the way it works in Hollywood. I would then ask for a lot of money. So then they’d say, ‘Let’s go give it to Sly. Maybe we can get him for cheaper.’ He went for it! He totally went for it. A week later, I heard about it, ‘Sly is signing now to do this movie.’ And I said, [pumps fist] ‘Yes!'”
At the time, Schwarzenegger and Stallone were arch-enemies. The movie wasn’t entirely a disaster. It was made on a budget of $45 million and managed to gross roughly $75 million at the global box office. Thanks to Stallone’s influence and fan following, the movie wasn’t a financial failure.
