Daniel Radcliffe is among the best examples of actors who were exposed to immense fame during their childhood. For him, his portrayal as Harry Potter in the successful Harry Potter franchise brought him into extreme prominence that is still prevalent across the globe. From getting booked to portraying the young wizard to saying adios to the film as a young man, he grew up in front of the public’s eye.
While the film series became the stepping stone for him to further amplify his career, it still wasn’t able to win the actor’s heart, at least that’s what he hinted at in an interview.
Daniel Radcliffe Got Candid About Watching His Famed Harry Potter Films
The 33-year-old actor, Daniel Radcliffe in a 2021 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show opened up about watching Harry Potter films that rose him to global stardom.
Ahead of his reunion special at the time, he shared that he did not have an “enjoyable” experience which is why he avoids watching them again.
“I see them at the premiere, and then if I can I avoid ever watching them again. My heart dies a little bit every time I hear [The Harry Potter Theme Song] as a ringtone.”
He added,
“But, yeah, I think it would just be kind of like passing around baby photos of yourself. It’s not an enjoyable experience.”
Given that the film gave him global stardom at a young age he had to go through some extreme lengths to cope with it.
Daniel Radcliffe Struggled to Cope Up With Extreme Public Attention!
Radcliffe has created a powerful legacy in the acting industry whether it be his filming projects like The Lost City or his stage plays. Being a person who had been in the public eye since his childhood, he had a hard time coping with the pressure and fame.
When things started getting out of hand, he sought to drink as an option to escape from stardom but little did he know that it would only make things out of hand. He told Off Camera With Sam Jones in 2019,
“The quickest way of forgetting about the fact that you were being watched was to get very drunk. Then as you get very drunk, you become aware that, ‘Oh, people are watching more now because now I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.'”
He eventually came out of that dark loop through his close friends’ support and decided to stop drinking in 2010. Given that his journey as a star kid, he opened up about avoiding fame for his future kids at all costs.
