MCU fans usually fancast many actors in a role according to their wish. Ryan Gosling has also had his share of fan casting and has also shared which character he really wants to play in the MCU. However, his co-star Emily Blunt has debunked the actor’s claim, saying that The Notebook star does not want to play a superhero. They are set to share the screen in the upcoming action thriller The Fall Guy.
Talking about her co-star during a recent conversation with the Happy Sad Confused podcast host, Blunt claimed that Gosling himself told her that he is not interested in playing a superhero.
Emily Blunt Denies Ryan Gosling’s MCU Rumors
Ryan Gosling has been fan-cast as several Marvel characters that he could play in the MCU. Rumors also suggested that he could join the cast of the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four. The 42-year-old Canadian actor debunked such rumors and said that he would be interested in playing Ghost Rider instead.
However, Emily Blunt has recently shut down all the rumors surrounding the La La Land star’s association with the cinematic universe. During her recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she revealed that Gosling is not interested in playing a superhero.
“No, he doesn’t. I asked him about it. He doesn’t,” she said. When the host of the podcast stated that Gosling earlier said he wanted to play Ghost Rider, the Oppenheimer star called him a “dork” before adding that she might have a “beef” with her co-star about the whole conversation.
Blunt and Gosling are set to star in David Leitch’s upcoming film The Fall Guy, which is based on a 1980s TV series of the same name. During her interview, the Jungle Cruise actress also stated neither of them has played a superhero character yet.
Would Ryan Gosling Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
While neither Emily Blunt nor Ryan Reynolds has played a superhero so far, it might change for the latter, as he has constantly been rumored to star in the MCU. Before the release of the Black Panther sequel, rumors suggested that Gosling would appear as Dr. Doom in the post-credit scene of the movie.
There have also been rumors about him joining the MCU with Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four reboot. While his role in the movie is not confirmed yet, industry insider Jeff Sneider has said that the Barbie star was in line for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four. The studio is yet to announce the official cast of the film. There is also a possibility that he might play any other character, like Ghost Rider, in the MCU.
