Scottish actor James McAvoy recently made a shocking admission in an interview with GQ. McAvoy is known for his roles in films such as Split, Atonement, and the X-Men series. McAvoy said in an interview that he is “the worst shot in the world” and struggled with gun scenes while filming Wanted in 2010 with Angelina Jolie. If you’ve been a fan of McAvoy and his successful movies, this news may surprise you.
James McAvoy Thought Of Some Tennis Moves
As Wesley Gibson in Wanted, played by McAvoy, Gibson is a regular guy recruited by a shadowy group of assassins. As part of his training, Gibson was required to learn how to use firearms and perform physically demanding stunts.

Despite his extensive acting experience, McAvoy found learning to shoot firearms a significant challenge. McAvoy admitted to GQ that he had trouble with the gun training during the filming of Wanted.
When pressed further, he even claimed to be “the worst shot in the world.” McAvoy said he approached the training like that of a sport he was already familiar with, like tennis. When asked to describe the movement he helped create, he said,
“I helped develop that move and we were trying to figure out what would it be like, and I was like, ‘Well maybe it’s like tennis.’ when you’re doing like a kinda.. I dunno what that move, I don’t play tennis, but you know that move in tennis. I mean I also learned in gun training that I am the worst shot in the world. I nearly passed out on that job just to do the scene”
James McAvoy tried to make sense of the training and improve his shooting skills, but he still had trouble looking natural in front of the camera. He even said he was so exhausted during filming that he almost died. McAvoy’s admission reveals the time and effort required to film a convincing action sequence.
