Bryan Cranston has left a lasting impact on the industry and its viewers with his diverse array of remarkable roles. But the superstar had tried quite a few different jobs before landing his successful acting career. One such job role was of a waiter, which Cranston explored when he was traveling with his brother across the world. But the superstar had quite an experience working as a waiter as during that time he got accused of the murder of the person he hated the most.
Bryan Cranston On Making Plans To Kill His Manager
Bryan Cranston shared that when he went on a 2-year long motorcycle trip with his brother, they kept picking jobs and ended up being waiters in a Polynesian restaurant whose head chef, Peter Wong, was the worst person the Breaking Bad star had ever met. Cranston shared that Wong was surely a good chef but was a terrible person. The All the Way star stated that he surprisingly had pure hatred for Peter Wong.
“We [Bryan Cranston and his brother] took a 2-year motorcycle ride across the United States in the mid-70s. It was the greatest thing, we picked up jobs here and there and one time we were in Daytona Beach, staying for a while to earn some money. We got a job at a Polynesian restaurant called the Hawaiian Inn and at the Hawaiian Inn, we were all waiters. The head chef was a guy named Peter Wong. Now Peter was a good chef — and a horrible person. He was the first person I ever met who I just realized, ‘Oh my God, I hate this guy.’ I don’t think I’ve ever hated someone before Peter Wong. He was not a nice guy.”
Cranston even added that all the waiters of the inn would talk about killing Peter Wong and he would even think of slicing the rude head chef in tender slices.
“He was miserable and mean. I mean he would just shout and yell at you. So during the waiter meeting before every night, they would tell us what to push on the menu. We would all talk about how each one of us would kill Peter Wong if \we had the opportunity. So I said, ‘I’m just thinking I will slice him up, not dice him up, I will slice him, all tender slices.”
Bryan Cranston On Being Accused Of Murder
Things took an unexpected turn in the Malcolm in the Middle star’s life when the murder of Peter Wong took place in the same period when he along with his brother left the restaurant to continue their trip, leaving themselves under serious suspicion of murder. Bryan Cranston shared that they were being tracked down by the police to resolve the case of Peter Wong’s murder.
“My brother and I hop on our motorcycles and we take off again to go up north. Policemen came into the Hawaiian inn and gathered everybody who was left of the staff. They say, ‘We would like to ask about Peter Wong’. Everybody is wondering what’s going on. They said, ‘Has anybody ever talked about hurting or killing Peter Wong.’ and all the waiters were like, ‘Yeah all of us.’ And they said, ‘Anybody who is not here talked about killing Peter.’ Well, the Cranston brothers. When did they leave? Well, they left about a week ago on their motorcycles. And they said that fits the timeline. Cause Peter was murdered and they were looking for us.”
The Trumbo star added that unknown of all this, the police went ahead and put APB on their motorcycles to track them down. Fortunately, the truth behind the murder was unveiled, clearing the names of the Cranston brothers, but the incident surely left some strong memories in the mind of Bryan Cranston.
