Quentin Tarantino has been revered as one of the greatest directors of all time. The director found fame for his unique take on movies with a retro style. With an iconic movie back in the 2000s, Tarantino directed the iconic movie Kill Bill: Volume 1 and 2.
Starring Uma Thurman as the protagonist called “The Bride”, the actress gave one of her best performances of a lifetime in the movie. The director, however, admitted his guilt when he nearly crashed Uma Thurman’s car for a scene in the movie!
Quentin Tarantino Admits Guilt For Almost Crashing Uma Thurman’s Car!
After filming ended, Uma Thurman had some heated words for Quentin Tarantino for the unsafe working conditions that she had to go through. Accusing the director of bullying her during filming, Thurman stated that Tarantino made her sit in an unsafe car and drive around which then crashed.
Calling the incident a “dehumanization to the point of death”, Thurman and Tarantino were not on good terms after the filming ended. On the other hand, the Pulp Fiction director admitted his guilt of placing Thurman in an unsafe car. He further added that it wasn’t guilt how the people term it out to be! Stating that there was no stunt involved and that it was just driving around, Quentin Tarantino admitted that he did not anticipate for it to crash.
“I am guilty, for putting her in that car, but not the way that people are saying I am guilty of it. It was just driving. None of us looked at it as a stunt. Maybe we should have, but we didn’t. I’m sure when it was brought up to me, that I rolled my eyes and was irritated. But I’m sure I wasn’t in a rage and I wasn’t livid.”
The director further admitted that to blow Uma Thurman’s hair in a particular style, he asked her to drive at a certain speed. When the camera lighting didn’t work, Tarantino asked her to drive in reverse but the road was not tested for the reverse conditions!
“I told her it would be OK. I told her the road was a straight line. I told her it would be safe. And it wasn’t. I was wrong. I didn’t force her into the car. She got into it because she trusted me. And she believed me.”
This isn’t the first time that the director has been accused. There have been countless allegations of misconduct on Tarantino’s set. The one that comes to mind was the director personally choking Diane Kruger on the sets of Inglorious Basterds to get the right shot!
Quentin Tarantino Choked Diane Kruger To Get The Right Shot!
In the movie Inglorious Basterds, Diane Kruger’s character Bridget von Hammersmark had to go through a choking scene. In his interview, Tarantino revealed that he asked Diane Kruger whether he could personally choke the actress since he wanted to get the right shot!
“That was an issue of me asking the actress, can we do this to get a realistic effect. And she agreed with it, she knew it would look good and she trusted me to do it. I would ask a guy the same thing. In fact, I would probably be more insistent with a guy.”
With such accusations and allegations, Quentin Tarantino is currently attached to 4 upcoming projects but his magnum opus has yet to arrive. Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2 are available to rent on Apple TV+.
