George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino are two very respected individuals in the Hollywood industry. As actors and directors, both of them have gotten experience working with some wonderful people throughout their careers. Both individually and together, they have achieved quite a lot in their lives. When it comes to their collective skills and their individual talents, they shine in their own respective manner. However, there can be feuds between some of the best people as well.
Their success is beautifully unimaginable and what they bring to the industry is something many yearn to see. Tarantino and Clooney’s fanbase is just as strong whether separate or combined. So it was rather interesting to see things getting concerning between the two talented men for one scene in particular that involved Salma Hayek.
Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney were Eager to Have One Scene with Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek is one of the most beautiful and talented actors so when two of the best-known celebrities in Hollywood were fighting over a scene with her, things were certain to become interesting. One scene in From Dusk Till Dawn had both George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino fighting each other because of how much both of them wanted to be a part of it.
“George was complaining because I get to beat him up,” Hayek added. “I abuse him and call him my slave. He asked Quentin, ‘How come I get beaten up and you get to suck her toes?’”
A scene in the movie had Hayek pouring alcohol down her leg as Tarantino sucked on her toes. The scene was interesting, to say the least, and seemingly both the director and Clooney wanted to do it. They even quarreled over the same. The Ocean’s Eleven actor was instead beaten up by the actress in another sequence.
Quentin Tarantino Ensured He Got the Scene with Salma Hayek
Quentin Tarantino was ready to make sure that he got the iconic sequence with Salma Hayek no matter what. This even led the director to pull rank on George Clooney so as to ensure that the actor does not try to get his way either. Despite Clooney already being an established actor before he met Tarantino, it wasn’t until the two talked to each other in ER that he realized just the amount of potential Clooney had.
“Quentin came over and said ‘You wanna come in and meet on this project,’” Clooney had once said. “Yeah, are you kidding? I’d get to work with Juliette Lewis and Harvey Keitel and Rob and Salma and Quentin.”
It was Tarantino who got Clooney the role in From Dusk Till Dawn and hence he had a much higher rank than the actor. As the screenwriter of the movie, the Pulp Fiction director had authority over quite a few scenes and this wasn’t the one he was willing to let go of.
