Jim Carrey has forged his marvelous career in Hollywood coming from the world of stand-up comedy. The actor has revolutionized commercial energetic slapstick comedy with his performances in movies like Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. However, the actor has also a few serious roles to his credit including The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Carrey rose to success pretty quickly following his onscreen feature debut in the 1984 comedy Finders Keepers. As success followed the actor, so did the tabloids invading his personal space. But Carrey possesses a great sense of humor and the actor responded to tabloid rumors hilariously.
Jim Carrey’s Was Pissed at Tabloids
Jim Carrey, 61, was extremely popular right after the dawn of his career as an actor. His comic timing and eccentric physical comedy have gotten worldwide attention within a short span. “It’s an amazing thing. I don’t know exactly what’s happened I’ve gotten very popular and uh and but it’s nice to know your roots,” Carrey said of his popularity appearing on Late Show with David Letterman. But the tabloids filled every corner of the stories to upset the actor. “I’m a little pissed about this,” he said of an edition of a tabloid he was holding at the time of the interview.
“I just want to you know, I just I want to tell people that if you go to a newsstand and you read about me in these Rags you know, 90 of what you’re reading is absolute garbage it’s total fabrication.”
The very nature of the tabloids is to keep pocking celebrities and often time they tend to fabricate reality with writing twists to create a sensation for its readers. Not jut Carrey, it has upset many celebrities but Carrey has the power and will to pock back, in fact with added humor.
Jim Carrey’s Hysterical Response to Tabloid Rumors
Carrey opened an edition of Newsweek on the show where some details of his life were published in the outlet were not in line with reality, at least, not according to the actor. Carrey reads a few portions of the article which stated the actor makes $7 million per movie. “I don’t know where they got that number. I wouldn’t even rehearse for less than nine,” Carrey responded. “Then they get into my personal life and they can eat that,” the actor then pointed out the Dumb and Dumber co-star Lauren Holly and his rumored relationship.
“Now I don’t know where they dream this stuff up. I mean, so we sleep together four or five times a week, does that mean we’re romantically involved? Of course not. We’re just good friends,” Carrey joked.
Further, the tabloid wrote, per, Carrey, “Of his competition, Carrie says I hope they choke on their own vomit and leave the good scripts for me. Die, die, die, hurry up and die.” The Liar Liar actor further joked about it and said, “Now that was supposed to be off the Record.” For Carrey, tabloids are “garbage, garbage” and asked people not to accept everything in there as truth. It is not a good idea to mess with people like Carey as they possess a weapon of humor and are always ready to unleash it.
