It has been more than two decades since Hugh Jackman first starred as Wolverine. Playing the iconic Marvel character, Jackman has undergone some pretty hard times and it has been nothing short of a challenge. Despite the challenges, the star has maintained certain things he would do and would not do for the role.
Among the things he didn’t want to do, wearing the classic yellow spandex suit was on the top. However, the star was forced to don the suit finally after playing Wolverine for 23 years.
Hugh Jackman Broke This Rule To Star In Deadpool 3
Ever since Hugh Jackman became Wolverine, way back in the 2000s, fans have noticed multiple differences between the comic-book character and film one. The most notable one being the absence of the iconic yellow and blue spandex suit. Instead, Jackman ended up wearing a black leather suit like the rest of the X-Men. He also revealed in an interview that they once tried showing Wolverine wearing the spandex suit but it never worked out.
“Fans always say, ‘When are we gonna see you in the blue and yellow spandex? We’ve gotta see that shot.’ We tried a little bit in The Wolverine, it didn’t happen—on that plane at the end he opens up a box and there’s the suit, I think that ended up getting cut.”
Now after 23 years of being the one and only Wolverine, Jackman would finally sport the iconic suit in the Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool 3. In an Instagram post shared by the duo, it shows Deadpool and Wolverine walking side by side, each in their celebrated costumes. The internet broke into mayhem to finally have Jackman wear the suit, on top of him coming back from retirement to play his Adamantium-clad Mutant.
While the shooting of the film has been delayed in light of the ongoing strike, fans certainly can’t wait to witness the duo share screen in Deadpool 3.
Hugh Jackman Was Once Glad To Not Wear Wolverine’s Spandex Suit
Wolverine’s yellow spandex suit is best known for being very vibrant and distinctive, which makes it stand out from the rest. Its powerful yellow and blue design, with the tight spandex material, is perfect to show the celebrated mutant’s physique, giving him an intimidating look. Despite the importance of the suit, Hugh Jackman was once very glad to have never worn the suit. In an interview he stated,
“One of the blessings is that I don’t have to wear Spandex. I think it’s safe to say that me and yellow tights don’t get on!”
Now after years of fans’ insistence, we will finally get the comic book Wolverine look in the next Deadpool film.
Deadpool 3 is reportedly set to release on May 3, 2024.
