Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in MCU movies, is the God of Mischief fans want to see even after dying multiple times. But again, that’s something Hiddleston can’t keep up with, if we go by Chris Hemsworth’s words. Chris Hemsworth and director Takia Waititi revealed that Hiddleton clarified his intentions not to be involved in their $760 million Thor: Love and Thunder, something that contradicts Loki’s claims.
Taika Waititi & Chris Hemsworth Cracked Jokes On Loki’s Death
During an interview with CinemaBlend, Thor: Love and Thunder director, Takia Waititi and actor Chris Hemsworth, who plays the quirky God of Thunder in MCU films, revealed that Tom Hiddleston, who last appeared as the God of Mischief in the Disney+ series Loki (2021), wasn’t interested in making a cameo in their $760 million movie. The Extraction actor claimed:
“He [Tom Hiddleton] said, ‘I hate all of you and in particular me,’ and I was like, that’s a shame. And that’s it. I mean, how many times can we kill him?”
Referring to Hiddleston’s reasoning why he couldn’t appear in the 2022 film, the actor added, “We love Tom. We love Tom. Yeah. But he’s dead. Not him, but the character of Loki.” The joke didn’t end there, as the director, Waititi barged in and said, “No, no he’s just dead to us.”
Hemsworth responded, “He’s obviously dead to us, as far as friendship goes.” On the other hand, Tom Hiddleston previously claimed that he wasn’t aware of his involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder, which does raise some doubts.
Going through all of Loki-feature movies, the God of Mischief, known for creating duplicates and faking his death, apparently died only one time in Thor (2011). In the $449 million movie, Loki drops from the Bifrost but doesn’t die as he ends up in the wormhole, leading him to the Sanctuary, where he meets the Avatar of Death, Thanos.
Thor May Not Get Rid Of The God of Mischief
The original Loki’s actual death occurs in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). To fans’ surprise, a “time-variant” of Loki is seen in Avengers: Endgame (2019) when the heroes travel back in time to gather the infinity stones after Thanos had destroyed them. This version of Loki escapes into the plot of Loki’s standalone Disney+ series.
The Disney+ series Loki (2021) deals with time variants and reassures the fans that the death of Loki after being stabbed by Thanos was no trickery. Hemsworth claimed that Loki didn’t appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, and Thor does make sense when he says, “Loki is dead.”
But again, Hiddleston’s previous claim was that he was “living in a question mark,” as he wasn’t aware of his involvement in the Thor sequel does raise a question. But again, like he told Thanos during his final, final death in Avengers: Infinity War, “The sun will shine upon us again,” Marvel fans hope to see Thor and Loki reunite someday, but it’s fair to suffice that the original Loki is surely dead!
