House Of Gucci has to be one of the most talked about movies of this year. There are several behind the scenes stories from House of Gucci Ridley Scott would prefer you do not know.
Lady Gaga Showed Her Improv Skills
Ridley Scott is known to let the actors run amok while shooting a scene. He did it in The Last Duel and he did it in House Of Gucci. When actors are allowed the freedom of expressing their own creativity, something beautiful ensues. Lady Gaga caught the improv bug when she improvised many of her lines for House Of Gucci. The iconic “Father, Son, And House Of Gucci” tagline from the movie is the result of her on screen improvisation. Gaga reportedly ad-libbed many of her lines during practice and Ridley Scott was thoroughly impressed with how creative she was.
She Also Learned Method Acting For House of Gucci
Method acting is an art that is rare and extremely difficult to master. Only the greats like Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, and Daniel Day-Lewis are known to be masters of the art. You become so engrossed in portraying the character that you become it. Gaga was rumored to have kept on the role of Patrizia Reggiani for a period of more than nine months!! The singer-actor claims the dedication to her role became so severe that she started to go to a dark place the more she portrayed the murderess. Method acting can be a double-edged sword!!
Lady Gaga Refused To Meet The Real Person Her Character Was Based On
Patrizia Reggiani, the woman who arranged for the murder of her ex-husband, was released from prison in 2016. She served 18 years in prison for what she did. Lady Gaga refused to meet the real Patrizia because of a very specific reason. Gaga thought Patrizia would try to use House Of Gucci as a platform to glorify her acts. The singer did not want the audience to feel that the movie in any way champions violence and bloodshed. Such a class act, this woman.
Salma Hayek’s Mud Bath Story
Hayek plays Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma in the movie. In a scene where both Hayek and Gaga are taking a mud bath, Hayek had trouble getting her body submerged in the mud. The more she wriggled, the more her body kept coming out to the muddy surface. So Lady gaga asked her to stop moving so much and let the mud take her body in. Hayek talked about the incident in many House of Gucci promotional interviews that happened later on. The two had so many hilarious tales to tell from the sets of House of Gucci.
There Aren’t Many Gucci Clothes In House of Gucci
Janty Yates, Costume Designer for House of Gucci and a frequent ally to Ridley Scott, spoke to WWD about the movie. He said the Seventies’ Gucci fashion line was mostly “tweeds and browns” that did not appeal to the fashion scenario seen in the movie. Patrizia preferred her wardrobe from Yves Saint Laurent. Aldo Gucci liked Zenga and Mauricio Gucci sourced his from Seville Row.
