Elizabeth Olsen’s recent experiences within the Marvel Cinematic Universe haven’t exactly been a triumph as of late. Following what seemed to be the demise of her character, Wanda Maximoff, in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, she hasn’t been basking in the glow of success. In a recent conversation with Vanity Fair, Olsen opened up about her career and reflected on her time in the MCU.
While she expressed genuine delight in her involvement in WandaVision, a wonderfully strange and artistically captivating journey through various television eras that cleverly concealed a poignant exploration of grief and loss, she wasn’t quite as thrilled about her role in Doctor Strange 2. In her opinion, the writers of that film failed to effectively collaborate with the WandaVision team, resulting in a somewhat less gratifying experience for her.

Elizabeth Olsen Won’t Mind Being Fired By Disney And Marvel

In a rather unexpected response, Olsen didn’t mince words as she candidly expressed that she didn’t miss Wanda at all. In fact, she boldly stated that she would be perfectly satisfied if she never portrayed the character again, despite the common tendency for actors to make such declarations and eventually return to their beloved roles.
“No, I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason why l am not calling Kevin Feige everyday with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do.”
Olsen also mentioned that she wants to think about other characters and films instead of just being with Marvel.
“I think ‘WandaVision’ was a really surprising opportunity. If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made. And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters, so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all.”

Elizabeth Olsen Will Only Return If Her Character Gets Humorous
In a recent interview in March 2023, Elizabeth Olsen shared her desires for the future of her character, Scarlet Witch, within the Marvel Studios’ universe. She expressed her hope that if Wanda were to make a comeback in future projects, the MCU would provide her character with a chance for redemption. Additionally, Olsen revealed her wish to see Wanda Maximoff embrace “a lot more humor” in her potential return.
“We can do anything with her now! I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her. She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”
These latest remarks from Elizabeth Olsen demonstrate her acceptance of the possibility that Wanda Maximoff may not return, considering the significant development the character has already undergone in the MCU.
While the exact timing of Scarlet Witch’s reappearance remains uncertain, one potential project that could mark her comeback is Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
