Carrie-Anne Moss has done quite a few stunts in her lifetime, but none were as risky as one particular scene in The Matrix. She has given her best when it comes to any role she picks. From Jessica Jones to The Matrix, her talent is one that can easily be fawned over.
The actress has done a lot of roles and stunts that might scare her. However, what she did in Keanu Reeves’ film was unique because of how dangerous it was for her and her co-star. Not all the biggest stunts are done by trained professionals. While it may not always end well, some actors are willing to go the extra mile and try to give the most realistic experience possible for the audience.
Carrie-Anne Moss Had To Do Her Own Bike Stunt
Carrie-Anne Moss’s Trinity got a lot of praise when her character first debuted in The Matrix. Trinity is still an extremely iconic character to date, and Moss worked really hard while doing some stunts. And a bike sequence hit the mark for her. The actress was riding a 996 Ducati without a helmet and with a passenger. Keanu Reeves was also very shocked about the intensity of the scene and how Moss managed to pull it off.
“A passenger whose life was depended on me doing a good job, being impeccable and perfect. Because I knew that if a allowed my mind one moment of doubt that I could hurt another human being and I held that for all of those days.”
The actress had to go through intense training and was extremely worried about what might happen if she messes up even a little. When many actors do their own stunts, there is always a risk of injury that might affect the filming schedule, or the actor or actress, in a short-term or long-term manner. Such was the case when Quentin Tarantino had Uma Thurman do her stunts in Kill Bill. She suffered lifelong consequences for it. However, Carrie-Anne Moss pulled it off.
Carrie-Anne Moss Was Mentally Exhausted Because Of The Stunt
Carrie-Anne Moss admitted that having a passenger with her during the stunt made it even more difficult for her. The pressure she got because an entire person’s life depended on her, was too much. However, she knew that for that particular duration, she had to keep it to herself.
Her perspective was that if she let her mind get to her, if even a speck of doubt made it to her, she could very easily mess the entire sequence up. Moreover, she could put herself and another person’s life in danger. The speed she was going in and the fact that they had no helmets on was already frightening. Even more, the fact that she was not as skilled with a motorcycle was what was giving her more anxiety.
