The Dunkirk director now shared the reasons for the High Life star’s absence in his upcoming biographical thriller.
Christopher Nolan On The Absence Of Robert Pattinson In Oppenheimer
In a recent interview, Christopher Nolan shared the reasons for not including Robert Pattinson in his upcoming film, Oppenheimer. The renowned filmmaker shared that Pattinson’s busy schedule couldn’t allow him to be a part of this film. Despite being unable to join Oppenheimer, the Remember Me star had his influence on Nolan’s creative vision of the film. The Dark Knight director revealed that he took inspiration from Pattinson’s Tenet scene while creating Oppenheimer.
“He’s busy. He’s very much in demand these days. Rob [Pattinson], off the back of Tenet, where we refer to Oppenheimer… I wrote a thing about this incredible moment that Oppenheimer and the scientists of the Manhattan Project had, where they could not completely eliminate the possibility that when they triggered that first gadget – that first atomic device – they might start a chain reaction that would destroy the world. And we use that as a metaphor for Tenet, which Rob was in.”
Christopher Nolan Shared About The Gift He Received From Robert Pattinson
Nolan shared that during the wrap of Tenet, Robert Pattinson presented him with a meaningful gift, a book containing Oppenheimer’s speeches from the 1950s. The book delved into the intellectual struggle and immense consequences faced by Oppenheimer and his colleagues due to their groundbreaking work. The book added to the filmmaker’s fascination with the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
“As a wrap gift, he gave me a book of Oppenheimer’s speeches from the 1950s, where you’re reading these great intellects trying to deal with the massive consequences of the way in which they’ve changed life forever, for all of us. And I really got hooked and got hooked on the story.”
The Memento director’s words reflect his admiration for the Twilight star. The absence of Robert Pattinson from Nolan’s upcoming film must have disappointed several of his fans who were eagerly waiting for another crossover between him and Nolan.
Oppenheimer will be released on July 21, 2023.
