Margot Robbie is the talk of the town with her starring as the iconic Mattel toy Barbie. One of the most anticipated movies of the year 2023, Barbie has a really surprising cast including cameos from quite a few celebrities. Among the many surprising things about the movie is Ryan Gosling starring as Ken, which truthfully, nobody had ever expected or even envisioned.
However, Ryan Gosling as Ken is not the least bit surprising when the news of Margo Robbie’s DC co-star was revealed to have a cameo in the film. And the Suicide Squad actress was the one who convinced him to do it.
Margot Robbie Manipulated Her DC Co-star To Join Barbie
It was a surprise when fans spotted DC star John Cena as Mermaid-Ken in the soon-to-be-released Barbie. Among the many castings and surprise cameos, the news of John Cena in a movie like Barbie shocked the world. While fans have been loving his look, it is his DC co-star Margot Robbie who deserves the praise for having the Peacemaker star as Kenmaid.
In an interview, Robbie revealed how Cena came on board,
“It happened while we were shooting in London. I ran into him at a restaurant and we’d worked together before. And I was like, actually, I ran into him because I went to pay the bill…… I found him and I was like ‘What are you doing here?’… and he was shooting… And I was like ‘Do you want to come be a merman in Barbie?’ and he was like ‘Uh yeah.'”
While Margot Robbie wasn’t sure that John Cena would just agree to drop by and do a cameo in the film, surprisingly, Cena agreed on the spot and ended up playing Kenmaid. Well, just as the I, Tonya star said, he truly is awesome like that and we cannot wait to see him in the film.
John Cena Calls Him As Kenmaid A Happy Accident
Wearing a long curly blonde wig with a shell necklace, John Cena is excited to star as Kenmaid in the Margot Robbie starring Barbie movie. Talking about his experience, the star revealed how being cast in the highly awaited film was a happy accident for him.
“Fast X was filming across the street from Barbie, and [she asked], ‘Why don’t you do Barbie?’ I said, ‘I’ve been trying!’ And Margot makes a lot of the decisions for that and I said, ‘Well, I’ll do whatever you need.'”
And just like that, the Suicide Squad star decided to come on board the ship.
Barbie will be in theatres on July 21, 2023.
