Emily Rudd recently found fame by portraying the role of Nami in One Piece live-action Netflix series that was released recently. What fans thought would be another disappointment, turned out to be a great series with One Piece receiving positive reviews.

When Emily Rudd Met The Creator of One Piece
After she was finalized in the role of Nami, the navigator of Monkey D. Luffy’s pirate crew, Emily Rudd had the time of her life while working on the set. With Netflix behind the adaptation, fans were quite excited and afraid of the live-action project but it seems that the streaming studio learned from its mistakes.
In an interview with Collider, Emily Rudd talked about meeting Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, and how she was terrified for her life. Referring to him as “Oda sensei”, Rudd had a very appreciative moment for Oda who she compared to the likes of standing in front of a god.
“I also was able to meet Oda Sensei and it was easily the most scared I’ve ever been in my whole life. He’s a lovely dude, but, he’s kind of like a god, you know? So, I was like, ‘Oh man, I can’t. Hello, it’s so nice to meet you,’ I’m like just shaking.”
This wasn’t all since Emily Rudd continued to praise “Oda sensei” for creating the iconic manga and how he created something that resonated with the whole world. From her talks, it seems that the ending of One Piece would actually be about the friends Luffy made along the way!
Emily Rudd Has Nothing But Respect For Oda
Talking about how Eiichiro Oda created a unique masterpiece, the actress stated how the creator made something that was quite unique, and somehow resonated with the world on such a massive scale.
“First of all, Oda-sensei is an absolute genius and, you know, it’s kind of hard to argue against genius. He did such an incredible, masterful job at creating a story that is not only wacky, crazy, playful, and adventurous, but also so grounded and real.”
She further continued,
“It has a lot of heart. It’s a story about found family. It’s a story about freedom, and pursuing your dreams. And I think that that is something that people can universally connect to.”
One Piece received a high rating of 8.5/10 on IMDB and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes which was quite unexpected. The 2023 live-action is currently available to stream on Netflix.
