After starring in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewan McGregor featured in a solo TV series following the character. The 6 episodes miniseries was released last year on Disney+ and was received very well by the critics. However, there have been no updates about the show’s renewal for another season. Reports have claimed that season 2 of the show will not happen anytime soon.
But one of the cast members of the show has shared their doubts about the show’s renewal for another season. And the Obi-Wan Kenobi star has also shared that the lead star of the show is trying his best for its second season.
Ewan McGregor is Eager For Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2
Child actress Vivien Lyra Blair who stars as Princess Leia in the 2022 Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi talked about the potential season 2 of the show. She said that she had been asked the question multiple times.
However, she still seemed questionable about her return, as she said, “Will we get a second season of ‘Obi-Wan’?’” She also mentioned that Ewan McGregor, who stars as the title character in the miniseries, is very excited about another season and has been trying his best for the show’s renewal. Vivien Lyra Blair said,
“And I honestly, I think it’s very much a possibility because Ewan [McGregor] is just begging to do another one. He’s really excited.”
The Island actor has earlier expressed his wish to return as the legendary Jedi Master in the second season of the show. He shared that he was happy to reprise his role in the miniseries and would love to do it again alongside actors like Hayden Christensen in the future.
Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Happen?
The Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally planned as a spin-off film for Ewan McGregor’s Star Wars character. However, it was later released as a Disney+ series. Set between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, the miniseries follows the legendary Jedi master rescuing Princess Leia from Darth Vader.
Talking about the possibility of having season 2, showrunner Deborah Chow said that this was the story they always wanted to tell, but she was not sure about its future. “It is one big story, and it was always meant to be. You can never tell what happens in the future,” she shared.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has claimed that the second season of the show is not in development, but “there’s always the possibility.” She also mentioned that McGregor is eager to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second season of the show. There are still no official updates about Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 yet.
